Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) is a technical term that means “the effective understanding of anything associated with the maritime domain that could impact the security, safety, economy, or environment.” The goal of creating a superhero with the power of MDA is to explore the many challenges that the oceans confront—and the solutions that they provide. Often times, when I tell people the title of the story, they scrunch up their noses and ask what it means—and whallah! We are underway, achieving our mission to spread awareness about the oceans. Over the course of this epic story—wherever it takes us—I look forward to delving deeper into the issues and spreading awareness about the magnificence of the sea, the cradle of life on planet earth, and all that it has to offer.
